The Nigerian international has been instrumental for Xabi Alonso’s side scoring 13 goals and recording 9 assists, which played a crucial role in the club winning the German Bundesliga title for the first time in its 120 years of existence – and with five games remaining.

Despite missing out of action for about four months, he amassed 30 goal contributions – 20 goals and 10 assists in all competitions. The performances of the 23-year-old also earned him a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.

Leverkusen are on the verge of winning the league title with an unbeaten run as they play Augsburg in their last game on Saturday at Bay Arena.

Alonso’s men have been outstanding this season having set a European record of 50 games unbeaten and stand a chance to win a treble with the Europa League final coming up next Wednesday against Atalanta in Dublin – and the DFB Pokal final against FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday, May 25.
